During the trial, Pompei clarified “the substantial difference between the pharmacological advice that was administered by the aforementioned in nutritional matters and medical advice, as well as the nature of the pharmacological indications that the aforementioned could legitimately make in favor of its clients” says the lawyer Riccardo Leonardi, who defended the teacher. Judge Vittoria Lupi acquitted the accused. “This outcome occurred after six years of waiting, a fact which evidently caused serious damage to the image of the accused – continues the defense -, who, however, has always placed the utmost confidence in the work of the judiciary, which in fact, he recognized the full fairness of his work, restoring him the moral and professional integrity he deserved. Pompeii, graduated in Pharmacy, has been a professor in Pharmacology and Pharmacotherapy at the University of Camerino for over 20 years, as well as director of the sports nutrition specialization school of the Region, director of the Association of Nutrition Experts Pharmacists, (Afen) and, finally, a member of the European committee of the European Society of Sports Nutrition. The sentence issued by the court of Macerata, the reasons for which will be known in 90 days, has definitively dismissed the accusations unjustly made against the accused, on the basis of inaccurate and untrue reports ».
