Sosok.ID – An astounding statement was made by the Minister State-owned enterprises (BUMN), Erick Thohir recently.
In a webinar event held by the Padjadjaran University Alumni Association (IKA UNPAD) on Saturday (6/27/2020) yesterday, Erick leaked the transformation of the state-owned companies.
He even bluntly said that he was doing a major overhaul of the business run by SOEs.
At the event themed “Synergy of Alumni Collaboration Through Innovation Towards the Post-Covid-19 Economic and Democratic Awakening”, Erick leaked SOE’s plans for the near future.
The webinar not only brought SOE Ministers to speak, but there were also several Erick colleagues in the government.
Such as keynote speakers were Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto, Interior Minister Tito Karnavian, and Chair of Commission II Ahmad Doli Kurnia Tanjung.
On this occasion Erick revealed his intention of receiving a mandate from the President to hold one of the country’s revenue sources.
Erick also revealed that he no longer wanted to talk about problems that had plagued the Ministry of SOEs in the past.
Now he is focused on optimizing the performance of the SOE driving motor itself.
Especially through the Presidential Decree (Keppres) issued recently made Erick Thohir feel blessed by President Jokowi to conduct a major overhaul.
For now Erick said that he was making improvements so that SOEs would become more independent.
“Our BUMN focus is to make clearer mapping, which has economic value, public service and which are both,” said Erick.
For example, Telkom and Telkomsel and Bank Mandiri certainly prioritize their business, but like Bulog, Fertilizer must prioritize public services.
“That does not mean the company is battered or losers,” he said.
“Not mixed, in determining the KPI and this tantiem that we fix,” he added.
Because, said Erick, the bonus in each SOE is different, so there must be a clear standard.
Then, the dynamics of BUMN portfolios, he said, had received a Presidential Decree that the Ministry of SOEs could close, merge, and form strategic partnerships so that SOEs could be independent and not be breastfed.
“From the number of BUMNs that have 142 to 107, and going forward only 70 BUMNs,” he added.
Even now Erick Thohir wants to change the exclusive BUMN in the past with the jargon of synergy between SOEs and even then he broke down.
Erick wants to make BUMN as an ivory tower as the main building with a healthy ecosystem.
This was done because now in the Erick Thohir era, SOEs must be able to collaborate with other business entities such as Regional-Owned Enterprises (BUMD), Village-Owned Enterprises (BUMDes), the private sector and strategic partners.
“SOEs will be ivory towers first, we want to build a healthy ecosystem,” he said.
Then, the SOE Ministry will also determine the SOE business model, not only determine directors and commissioners.
“Each of these clusters has reduced clusters from 27 to 12 clusters,” he added.
Finally, Erick will add talent from outside SOEs to a 30% portion initially only limited to 10%.
“BUMN talent must be standardized,” he said.
He said, so that the appointment of BUMN Directors still be done internally or internally but there is also new blood.
“For example in Pelindo I, II, III, IV, and the temple space on their properties from outside, the airport business is not just an airplane,” he explained.
