Closing of beds, nursing and medical staff on the run, even largely deficient: psychiatry in France has suffered the pangs of decay. The Jury hospital is a reflection of this lack of consideration. Everything has to be rebuilt there. The structure is no longer adapted to the needs and, beyond medical considerations, the buildings have been left behind. The very narrow rooms (9 m²) accommodate three patients; the bathrooms, whose enamelled tiles no longer try to shine, are widely shared. Rethinking the site, Olivier Astier’s team has been thinking about it for many years. In 2021, he hoped that the reconstruction would be completed in 2025. It will take another two years.
