Rebecca Ferguson’s Eurovision Performance After Giving Birth: The Challenges and Triumphs

Rebecca Ferguson, the British singer, has revealed that she did not feel “physically” ready to perform at this year’s Eurovision soon after giving birth to her fourth child in February. In an exclusive interview with MailOnline, the 36-year-old artist said that she was initially dubious about getting back on stage after having her baby, confessing that “physically I was not feeling ready”. “I’ve just had a baby, I’ve not been on a diet. In fact, I can’t diet because I’m breastfeeding”, she explained. While she expressed uncertainty about performing at Eurovision, she determined to undertake the challenge and successfully delivered her performance.
Rebecca Hansen, known by her stage name Rebecca Ferguson, is a British singer regarded as one of the most successful contestants to have appeared on The X Factor. She has released numerous hit songs, including “Nothing’s Real But Love” and “I Hope”.
The singer also revealed that she rehearsed for Eurovision while breastfeeding her infant, saying, “Normally I’m critical of myself but I practised so much – breastfeeding, singing, breastfeeding, singing – that was my preparation. When I came off stage, I knew I’d done my best.” While performing at Eurovision, she wore a stunning voluminous ruffled orange gown and a pair of sparkling jewel-encrusted earrings.
Rebecca caught the eye on Tuesday as she delivered a powerhouse performance at the first Eurovision semi-final. The gorgeous dress was made up of layers of tulle and had a long train that flowed behind her on stage. Her raven tresses were swept up from her face in a high ponytail as she showed off her vocal talents.
Ireland, Malta, Latvia, the Netherlands, and Azerbaijan are out of the running for Eurovision 2023. In the semi-final, 15 countries performed at the M&S Bank Arena in the first part of two semi-finals for the chance to win a spot in Saturday’s grand final. Ten acts made it through with Finland favourite Kaarija and Sweden’s former winner Loreen who was victorious in 2012 with her hit Euphoria, also secured a place.
Earlier this year, Rebecca had her fourth child with her husband Jonny Hughes. The couple married in December of last year at her dream wedding venue in London’s upmarket Mayfair district, after seven years of dating.
During a visit to the venue, the Liverpool Arena, the King told the UK entrant Mae Muller that he would be ‘watching with great interest’ and ‘egging her on’. ‘Thank you. No pressure,’ she joked. Last year’s winner Ukraine automatically progressed to the Grand Final, along with the big five, comprising the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Spain and Italy.
