really 8 Pro focuses on 108 MP camera and good battery, but there were cuts | Analysis / Review

O really 8 pro is one of the Chinese manufacturer’s most recent bets on the Brazilian market. In our initial analysis we saw that it doesn’t change much compared to predecessor, with the 108 MP camera as the main highlight. Does just that change?

The design has changed between generations, while the old one has cameras in a rectangular layout, the new one features a more square cooktop-style module. The front part remains the same as before, but the realme 8 Pro is a little thinner and lighter. The matte plastic back finish carries the slogan “Dare to Leap” with a mirror finish and may annoy some by taking up too much space.

The realme 8 Pro’s screen is the same 6.4 inches with Super AMOLED technology as the previous model. Even the 60 Hz rate was kept, which is a shame. At least realme has made some improvements to the brightness control and it is now possible to achieve stronger brightness as well as more accurate colors than before. Too bad you lost stereo sound and now we have inferior audio in power and quality.

It’s a shame that the realme hasn’t upgraded its mid-range platform and we continue with the Snapdragon 720G from before. It did well in our multitasking test by holding everything in RAM, although it took a little longer to open apps compared to its predecessor. In games everything ran with good performance, within the limits of the 60 Hz screen.

What is most impressive is the battery, which even having the same size as before, ended up yielding much more and is among the best we’ve tested. It is clear that the realme preferred to optimize the software to make the battery work rather than exploiting the performance of the device.

The new 108 MP camera records great photos as long as it is in standard mode which compresses nine pixels into one to result in 12 MP photos. When using full resolution, HDR is disabled and we have darker photos with less detail. The rest of the set is pretty basic and unexciting.

Is it worth buying the 8 Pro realme? As it currently costs the same as its predecessor, it can be interesting for those who are very concerned about the camera. And compared to rivals? For more details, just check out the full review via the link below.
