Real Madrid managed to win El Clasico after defeating Barcelona 2-1 in the follow-up match Spanish League di Stadion Olimpic Lluis Companys, Saturday (28/10).

Barcelona was actually able to take a quick lead in the sixth minute through Ilkay Gundogan’s action. However, Los Blancos managed to comeback through two goals scored by the hero of the victory, Jude Bellingham.

The duel between the Spanish giants was tough in the first half. Even though they traded attacks, both teams produced minimal results on target.

The only on target that occurred in the first half resulted in a goal for Barcelona. The hosts’ lead was scored by Ilkay Gundogan when the match was only six minutes old.

A mistake between Aurelien Tchouameni and David Alaba in the penalty box was disastrous. Alaba’s attempt to sweep the ball failed perfectly so Gundogan was able to grab it.

The German midfielder coolly released the ball from close range to the right side of the goal which Kepa Arrizabalaga was unable to anticipate.

This was Gundogan’s first goal with Barcelona since joining this season.

The Blaugrana almost managed to increase their lead through Fermin Lopez’s shot from outside the penalty box. Unfortunately the ball still hit the left goal post.

Madrid was also able to provide resistance. Several opportunities were created but no goals were scored. Barcelona’s lead lasted until the halftime break.

Madrid tried to appear more attacking in the second half. Luka Modric was only introduced in the 63rd minute to replace Toni Kroos to add creativity in the midfield.

Modric’s entry has indeed made Los Blancos’ midfield more lively and made the attack more enthusiastic.

In the 68th minute, Madrid managed to equalize the score through Bellingham’s rocket kick. Bellingham’s hard shot from outside the penalty box couldn’t be blocked by Ter Stegen.

The English player became the hero of Madrid’s victory with a crucial goal in injury time. Bellingham’s flick in response to Modric’s pass in the penalty box made the score change 2-1 in favor of El Real.

This result made Madrid succeed to the top of the Spanish League standings with 28 points. They are ahead on goal difference over Girona who is in second place.

Meanwhile, Barcelona had to settle for being stuck in third place with a collection of 24 points. The Blaugrana have the opportunity to be evicted by Atletico Madrid who are in fourth place with 22 points.
