According to the real estate federation, the brokers are confronted with “harrowing stories” from people who have sold or rented a house, and are now looking for a new one, but can no longer view it in advance.
“Hundreds – if not thousands of Flemish people who have sold their old home or whose lease is about to expire, cannot now look for a new home and will end up on the street within now and a month,” says Kristophe Thijs of CIB Flanders.
According to the real estate agents, the Council of State will hear the case on Thursday and there would be a decision before the weekend. Until then, they run the risk of a fine if they organize a site visit anyway. “On the other hand,” says Kristophe Thijs, “Minister of the Interior Annelies Verlinden has already announced that she wants to review the file.” Unclarity trumps, according to the brokers.
