TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Declaration of the Coalition for Action to Save Indonesia (WE) on Tuesday, August 18, 2020, announced 8 points of demands to the government of President Jokowi. In the event, political observer Rocky Gerung was also invited to read out the 7th of the 8 demands declared by WE.
“Demanding the government to investigate seriously and thoroughly, against those who seek to go through the constitutional route, to change the State Basic Pancasila, as a real effort to overthrow the Republic of Indonesia as a result of the proclamation of August 17, 1945, so that similar efforts are not repeated in the future,” squealed. Rocky Gerung with a rising tone during the declaration held at the Proclamation Monument, Menteng, Central Jakarta.
Not only once, Rocky repeated reading the seven points of the demands. “Listen carefully. Don’t let me read the left ear, out the right ear. So, I read it again for the right ear,” said Rocky.
According to the former Chairperson of PP Muhammadiyah who was also a WE declarator, Din Syamsuddin, this association consists of various elements of the nation. Starting from interfaith figures, academics, activists, workers, and various figures across generations. He claims support for this movement comes from within and outside the country.
Din said all of the demands contained points of concern over the condition of the country, ranging from the economic, political, social, legal, human rights, to natural resources.
