As usual du Plessis-Kohli combination got off to a good start. Du Plessis (22) returned in the fifth over off Mitchell Marsh. But Kohli laid the foundation for the innings by partnering Mahipal Lomror for the second wicket. Both added 47 runs for the second wicket.

Kohli returned soon after completing his third half-century of the tournament. He scored six fours and a six off 34 balls. From a strong 110-2, Bangalore collapsed. Lomror (26), Maxwell (24), Dinesh Karthik (0) and Harshal Patel (6) returned in two overs.

Bangalore fell to a score of 132-6, but Shahbaz Ahmed and Anuj Rawat managed to reach a better score. Anuj, who came as an impact player, could not shine. He scored 15 runs off 22 balls. Shahbaz remained unbeaten on 20 runs off 12 balls.

Mitchell Marsh and Kuldeep Yadav took two wickets each for Delhi. Axar Patel and Lalit Yadav took a wicket each.

Delhi will face Bangalore in Chinnaswamy with the weight of four straight defeats. Both bowling and batting are concerned. The main problem is that skipper David Warner is scoring runs but his strike rate is not going up. Axar Patel’s workload was therefore increased in the last match.

In bowling, the performance of Anrich Norke in the last over against Mumbai needs to be repeated in the coming matches. Mustafizur Rahman, Khalil Ahmed and Mukesh Kumar’s constant giving away of runs is also one of the main reasons for the setbacks faced by the team.

On the other hand things are a bit different. Bangalore are one of the strongest batting teams in the tournament. Virat Kohli, Faf du Plessis and Glenn Maxwell are the only trio to cross the score of 200. But one mistake the team keeps repeating is not picking up the pace for scoring in the middle overs.

Coming to bowling, there are a number of disadvantages. Despite scoring over 200 runs, the Bangalore bowling line-up is unable to defend it. Harshal Patel, who has been in bad form for a long time, is likely to be kicked out by the team management. The lack of spinners capable of taking wickets also needs to be addressed.
