A Penny Lane street sign has been found again after 47 years. The sign was stolen in 1976 by a group of drunk students from the street in Liverpool after which the famous Beatles hit is named.

Liverpool’s The Beatles Story museum received a message from an anonymous man earlier this year. He said that he had stolen the sign with the famous street name and would like to donate it to the museum.

The man admitted that he stole the sign while drunk with his friends. This happened nine years after The Beatles had made the Liverpool street world famous with their hit of the same name. The man wants to give the sign to the museum because he is “getting a little older”.

Penny Lane street signs have been picked up by Beatles fans over the years, but according to the museum, this is by far the oldest example to date. The sign will have a place in the museum.
