Rare Cooking Oil due to Hoarding, Really? : Okezone Economy

JAKARTA – Chairman of the Indonesian Retail Entrepreneurs Association (Aprindo) Roy Nicholas Mandey denied any allegations of hoarding cooking oil in modern retail.

“Modern retailers that are members of Aprindo do not store cooking oil either in warehouses or at outlets,” he said in an official statement.

Roy explained that the basic principle of retail operations is that products sent from producers and distributors to retailer warehouses will be directly distributed to outlets and sold directly to consumers.

“Not only cooking oil, but all and various products in the outlets are like that,” he explained.

Then he said there was no urgency or interest why modern retailers had to hold cooking oil stocks in warehouses.

He said, apart from the very limited retail warehouse because it contains a variety of goods, the modern retail business model is a retailer who directly sells products to end users or end consumers.
