Home rapper EV released a video for the song “The Magic” on January 6 from the upcoming album “The Smoke & Mirrors LP”, which will be released on January 28.
The song, as well as the video clip, focuses on and around the theme of the music in terms of content. The video clip shows important locations in Latvian hip-hop, where music is either made or inspired to create music, and they are “Left Bank Recording Studio”, “Dirty Deal Audio Studio”, “Rolanda Che Recording Studio” and Ozola Clothing Store. “Hoodshop”, where you can find iconic relics related to hip-hop.
Ernests Alļis played the saxophone in the song.
“This song and video clip is an important part of the album, so that you can understand both the artists’ persistent creative process and the next album when it is released. It’s all about the magic of music, as well as what are the feelings in us that make that impression of magic. That’s why the song itself is called “The Magic”, “EV comments on his latest performance.
EV, real name Kārlis Pauls Šēnhofs, is a 22-year-old hip-hop artist from Ikšķile / Ogre, who writes and performs songs in both Latvian and English. He is a member of two Latvian hip-hop associations – “Kreisais Krasts” and “Brīvrunu Projekts”. He started his career in music in 2016, but released his debut album “Imperfect World” in 2017. Following this project, the next album released was “2018”, which EV itself calls a “song collection” rather than a single concept recording.
On January 28, the rapper will release his latest and most ambitious album “The Smoke & Mirrors LP”.
