Ranking the Best Atmosphere at Home Games in the Bundesliga

In the Bundesliga, the last matchday is coming up. The final decisions about championship, European Cup and relegation are made in nine stadiums. A big advantage is being able to play a home game. Almost every football club in the world prides itself on the special support of its fans. However, it is obvious that there are definitely differences.

This also applies to the Bundesliga, in which the atmosphere in the stands is generally well-recognized around the world. Traditional clubs with large stadiums and a corresponding number of fans are primarily responsible for this. The voting platform FanQ has now asked more than 10,000 football fans in Germany how they rate their own favorite club in terms of atmosphere at home games. Voters could award up to five stars. Eintracht Frankfurt achieved the top value of 4.96 stars, which narrowly secured the top spot.

Bavaria in 17th place

Union Berlin with 4.95 stars breaks out of the phalanx of traditional clubs with a huge stadium, but the home games at the Alte Försterei have their very own charm. Behind them comes FC Schalke 04 with 4.94 stars in bronze, ahead of 1.FC Köln (4.90), VfL Bochum (4.86) and Borussia Dortmund (4.83). The Black and Yellows are particularly hoping for the home game atmosphere factor, as they will be competing for the championship title with FC Bayern in a long-distance duel on Saturday. The fact that the Munich team play away from Cologne is probably not the biggest disadvantage for them. In any case, their own supporters still see room for improvement when it comes to the atmosphere in home games in the Allianz Arena. In the ranking, with an average of 3.87 stars, it was only enough for 17th place. Only TSG Hoffenheim rated their own mood worse (3.44). Apart from the two clubs, only VfL Wolfsburg receives a rating of less than four stars. That may well prove that the atmosphere in the Bundesliga is very good overall.
