Cotonou (Benin), August 19, 2020 – MTN Group announces the appointment of the current Group CFO, Ralph Mupita, as the new CEO. It takes effect from September 1, 2020.

Ralph has been the current CFO of the MTN Group since April 2017 and has played a critical role in the development and execution of the group’s strategy, capital allocation processes, financial performance as well as in the resolution of a number of complex regulatory issues. Mr Mcebisi Jonas, Chairman of the Board of the MTN Group, declared: “After a
rigorous in-depth research process, we are pleased to have appointed someone of Ralph’s caliber, experience and ability to serve as Group President and CEO. Ralph’s background as Group CFO, his solid knowledge of our business and our markets, as well as his successful track record in financial services, mergers and acquisitions in emerging markets, place him in an excellent position to lead. , in continuity, the constant growth of the company. Ralph graduated from the University of Cape Town with an Engineering degree and an MBA. Prior to joining MTN Group, Ralph served for five years as CEO of Old Mutual Emerging Markets, a company providing financial services to individuals and businesses in 19 countries in Africa, Latin America and Asia. , managing, at the time, a portfolio of over one trillion rand of client assets.
