Rainy Season, Prone to Dengue Fever, Health Cadres Immediately Anticipate

SURABAYA – Entering the rainy season, it is usually very vulnerable to the spread of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) caused by the Aedes aegypti mosquito. To anticipate this, the Surabaya City Government will carry out the eradication of DHF by mobilizing the ranks of puskesmas and 26,541 health cadres throughout the city of Surabaya to jointly eradicate dengue fever.

Mayor of Surabaya Eri Cahyadi has issued a Circular (SE) of the Mayor of Surabaya asking all parties to increase their vigilance against this dengue disease. The SE numbered 443/12475/436.7.2/2021 has been distributed to Heads of Regional Apparatus, sub-district heads, village heads, RT/RW, schools, places of worship, mall managers, and all companies in the city of Surabaya.

Eri Cahyadi said that increasing vigilance can be done by eradicating mosquito nests with 3M Plus (PSN 3M Plus), which is to drain and clean the bathtub or pool of water at least once a week, tightly closing water reservoirs such as jars, reservoirs, water drums. and others to prevent mosquito larvae or eggs.

Then use or recycle used goods that can hold water that has the potential to become a breeding ground for mosquitoes, plus avoid mosquito bites by using mosquito repellent or using mosquito nets, keeping larvae-eating fish, planting mosquito repellent plants, changing flower vase water, and drinking birds. .

“I also ask to carry out the Jumantik 1 House/Building 1 Movement (G1R1J) by involving health cadres or institutional employees to monitor and ensure that there are no larvae in their respective environments, including fields or vacant land and other public facilities,” he said, Thursday. (4/11).

Eri also asked to activate socialization and strengthening activities about the importance of Clean and Healthy Living Behavior (PHBS), both at home and in the surrounding environment. The importance of implementing PSN 3M Plus regularly and continuously to break the chain of transmission of DHF, and fogging is not the main strategy in preventing DHF, because it can only kill adult mosquitoes, cannot kill mosquito larvae and eggs.

“Please immediately take him to the puskesmas or other health facilities if any family or community shows symptoms of dengue fever, and report it to the nearest puskesmas for an epidemiological investigation. I also ask residents to help smooth the activities of epidemiological investigations and focus on dealing with dengue cases in an area,” he said.

He also ensured that all activities to prevent and control dengue disease must always be carried out while still observing strict health protocols. Because, right now it’s still the Covid-19 pandemic even though the conditions have started to slop.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Surabaya City Health Office, Febria Rachmanita, said that in the context of preventing DHF, his party involved all stakeholders or across sectors in each region, starting from elements of the sub-district, urban village, RT, RW, Babinkamtibmas, Babinsa, puskesmas and also cadres who spread all over Surabaya.

The number of puskesmas officers who are assigned is in accordance with the number of persons in charge of PSN in the target areas in each kelurahan, an average of 2 – 3 people per RW assisted by the local RT/RW. In addition, we involved as many as 26,541 health cadres to move to people’s homes. Through this method, hopefully DHF in Surabaya can be suppressed,” he concluded. (rmt / only)
