Rains from Tropical Storm Hilary Cause Damage to Access Points of Río Colorado-Tijuana Aqueduct

Mexicali.- The rains caused by tropical storm Hilary damaged two access points of the Río Colorado-Tijuana aqueduct.

During this day, elements of the State Water Commission (CEA) began repair work to gain access to the fire stations whose function is to raise water from Mexicali to La Rumorosa through a pipeline.

Despite the fact that the damage prevents access to the pumping plants, the state government reported that the operation and water supply were not compromised.

The access points that were collapsed by the rains were the roads to pumping plants 3, 4 and 5, which were cut off by a large number of rocks of considerable size, which hindered vehicle access.

In these areas, heavy machinery had to be brought in to carry out the work to rehabilitate the road.

Until the afternoon of this August 24, the Commission reported that the access road to pumping plant #5 is already fully enabled.

Therefore, in the next few days it is projected to conclude with the rest of the damaged roads.
