Rainbow in Madrid

“This photo was taken from the window of my living room in Madrid on a rainy day in which the sun came out with all its splendor to give us a beautiful rainbow,” Inma Rodríguez describes when sharing her capture in The Photos of Readers of The vanguard.

These days of forced confinement due to the Covid-19 pandemic are conducive to observing the sky from the balcony or the windows of the house and, if it gives you images such as the rainbow, it is an incentive for photography fans.

A rainbow or rainbow is an optical and meteorological phenomenon that consists of the appearance in the sky of an arc (sometimes two or more) of multicolored light, caused by the decomposition of sunlight in the visible spectrum, which It is produced by refraction, when the sun’s rays pass through small drops of water contained in the Earth’s atmosphere.

It is an arch composed of colored concentric arches, with no continuity between them, with red on the outside and violet on the inside.

Although the rainbow is a continuous gradient of spectral colors, it is considered that these can be defined in seven fundamental colors: red, orange, yellow, green, cyan, blue and violet, which are equivalent to those mentioned by the scientist Isaac Newton in 1704 .
