Rafael Nadal starts his 2024 season in the best possible way with a more than convincing victory in Brisbane against the Austrian Dominic Thiem. Before flying to the Kangaroo continent, the native of Manacor gave a long interview to El Pais and spoke about several subjects and of course he talked about his two rivals: Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic.
Nadal thinks Djokovic’s journey was easy
After indicating that seeing Roger Federer play gave him more pleasure and emotions than seeing Nole on a court, Rafael Nadal also spoke about the rivalry between him and the two other members of the big-3, considering that his journey and Federer’s was much more complicated: ” The three of us managed to reinvent ourselves over the years, and that’s what created this intense rivalry.
Me and Roger always found a way to surprise each other. Djokovic also achieved feats but with a difference. I’m not taking any credit away from him, but he managed to develop his game more easily than me and Roger because he didn’t have to deal with a lot of injuries.
The only thing that forced him to improve his game a little was his rivals, and not physical problems, and that’s a big difference,” explained the champion with 14 Roland-Garros titles.
