Rafa Nadal Proves High-Level Training at Academy Facilities Ahead of Return to Competition

Rafa Nadal has been able to prove himself these days in the quality training he has done at his Academy facilities in Manacor, with high-level players such as the Frenchman Richard Gasquet, the Finnish Emil Ruusuvuori, the German Jan-Lennard Struff and Jaume Munar. As Gasquet did at the time, the Mallorcan offered his impressions of the winner of 22 Grand Slams, who will compete again a year later in Brisbane (December 31 to January 7).

“As long as he is healthy, he can do the training we are doing and he looks competitive… everything else will come,” Munar explained to the website. ATPTour.com after finishing his session with the Mallorcan on Thursday. “He is a great champion, I don’t think there is anyone who can question that. Everything else comes with time, so he will be competitive for sure if his body respects him,” he added.

Before returning home, Nadal shared training with the Frenchman Arthur Fils at his Kuwait Academy and the Frenchman was impressed by the Spaniard’s tennis. This was revealed to Ivan Ljubicic, coach of the French Federation. “He told me that he is playing at a very high level,” said Roger Federer’s former coach. Gasquet delved into these positive impressions. “I have no doubt that Nadal will be competitive.”

Days to improve

Rafa has days left to continue improving. The sensations with his drive stroke are quite good. Next week, after spending Christmas at home, he will head to Brisbane to begin a new adventure, his umpteenth return after a period out due to injury. He will play there on an invitational basis and, if all goes well, he will compete at the Australian Open (January 14-28) with protected ranking.
