Radio 1 program ‘Internal kitchen’ stops after twelve years: “We had a lot of fun” | showbiz

A day after ‘De Madammen’ announced their farewell on Radio 2, Sven Speybrouck and Koen Fillet do the same with their ‘Internal Kitchen’ on Radio 1. The talk show, in which the duo invites four guests for conversations about history, science and culture, could be heard on Radio 1 every Saturday afternoon for twelve years.

“We think it’s a shame, but it went like this and decided,” Speybroeck says at the beginning of the very last broadcast. “Making a thirteenth season would be defying fate,” adds Koen Fillet with a quip. “We certainly had a lot of fun making it.” Speybrouck agrees. “People say: ‘you have the best job in the world’ and it is true. Until today then (laughter).”

In 2014, the program was awarded a ‘Golden Book’, a special award from Boek.be for a person or organization that has earned special merits in connection with the book or its distribution. It is not yet clear what the two will do later and which program will replace the current one after the summer. A whole series of episodes can be re-listened as podcasts.
