Rada appoints new Prosecutor General of Ukraine – Politics – tsn.ua

On July 27, the Verkhovna Rada supported the appointment of a new Prosecutor General of Ukraine, Andriy Kostin.

“For” voted 299 people’s deputies.

It should be noted that President Volodymyr Zelensky himself came to the appointment of Kostin as Prosecutor General.

Recall that on July 17 it became known that President Vladimir Zelensky removed Irina Venediktova was removed from the post of Prosecutor General, and Ivan Bakanov was removed from his duties as head of the SBU.

Already on July 19, the Verkhovna Rada fired Venediktova as head of the Attorney General’s Office. Later, people’s deputy, head of the Servant of the People faction David Arakhamia announced a new position that Venediktova would receive. In addition, he stressed that she resigned voluntarily. However, before that, a conversation took place with the former Prosecutor General.
