NM1 – Two days before the end of the second phase, the battle is still raging between Chartres and Rouen for the rise to Pro B. In Pool B, Lorient continues to soar in the standings while in the maintenance pool , Berck failed to secure his place in NM1 next season after his defeat at Hyères-Toulon.
Two days from the end, the gaps are closing more and more, at the top of the rankings as in the race for the play-offs. Even in the maintenance pool, no more jokers are allowed.
Defeated by Poitiers in an incredible scenario on the last day, Rouen fell from its throne, thus reshuffling the cards for the final sprint of the regular season. Traveling to Rennes, now the main challenger, Sylvain Delorme’s men had no room for error and won 106 to 92. Andell Cumberbatch (13 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists) and Karim Gouari (14 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists) were the main architects of this victory. For its part, Chartres did not tremble in Caen by winning widely (60-92) while Vitré hardly beat Le Havre (83-86). Out of the title race, Loon-Plage and Mulhouse won against Orchies and Poitiers and continue to secure their place for the playoffs.

In pool B, Lorient continues to lead the race with three wins ahead of his runner-up Andrézieux. Traveling to the Rhône to face LyonSO, Philippe Maucourant’s men gave no quarter and won 74 to 90. The battle for the playoffs also continues in this pool, Rueil failed to secure his place in the playoffs by losing to Feurs (73-61), Toulouse bit the dust at Andrézieux (106-77) and Tours tamed Boulogne-sur-Mer (74-85). Finally, Challans kept hope by beating Besançon (90-105).

The fight for maintenance has further tightened in recent weeks. While traveling on the Hyères-Toulon floor, Berck missed the opportunity to validate his maintenance by losing 75 to 70. The ABBR still remains at the top of the classification but will not have the right to make mistakes during the next day against Cergy-Pontoise. On the other hand, Kaysersberg seems to have said goodbye in NM1. The Alsatians lost again against Tarbes-Lourdes (69-73). For his part, Pont de Chéruy is still fighting for his maintenance and won at home against Les Sables d’Olonne (98-79).
