Change of Plans for Tarantino’s Final Film

In a stunning move, renowned director Quentin Tarantino has made the decision not to continue with his highly anticipated project, “The Movie Critic.” This surprising development was reported by Deadline, indicating that Tarantino will, instead, take a step back to reassess his options for his final film. This leaves “The Movie Critic” among the list of numerous ideas that Tarantino has previously toyed with but never fully materialized.

Quentin Tarantino has apparently abandoned The Movie Critic after a reported change of heart.

The news received further validation when Variety also corroborated the story. IGN has reached out to Sony Pictures and Tarantino’s representatives for their comments and reactions.

According to the report by Deadline, Tarantino’s decision to abandon the film, which was originally set to star Brad Pitt, came after experiencing a “change of heart.” Initially, the film was intended to be inspired by a real-life writer whose reviews possessed a fusion of “early Howard stern and what what Travis Bickle [Robert DeNiro’s character in Taxi Driver] might be if he were a film critic.”

Multiple Abandoned Ideas by Quentin Tarantino

The movie underwent several rewrites throughout 2023, culminating in production delays. However, Tarantino’s sudden change of plans isn’t unprecedented, as the acclaimed filmmaker has previously abandoned several intriguing ideas. These ideas included a speculated R-rated Star Trek project and a potential third installment of the renowned Kill Bill series, among others.

While there remains a possibility that Tarantino might revisit the concept, as he did with “The Hateful Eight,” it appears that he has currently set those ideas aside to explore other creative avenues.
