The 13 infected elements are between 20 and 40 years old. They are in isolation at home. Family members are also under active surveillance.
All 120 elements of the Queluz volunteer firefighters were tested this Saturday, after the first cases were detected on Wednesday and Thursday among members of one of the pre-hospital emergency teams.
Commander Hugo Neves is one of those infected. He explained to RTP that he has mild symptoms, without the need for “concern”, he guarantees. The commander adds that it was not possible to determine the chain of transmission at the origin of this outbreak among firefighters.
However, he recalls that pre-hospital transport teams transport “more than a dozen confirmed cases” of infection every day, in a “city that is saturated with cases” of infection with the new coronavirus.
