Queen visits set of British soap series

Dressed in blue for the occasion, the Queen met several cast members and other creators behind the scenes. Bill Roache, who plays Ken Barlow, Barbara “Rita” Knox and Sue “Audrey” Nichols, among others, waited and welcomed her. The Queen wanted to know, among other things, how the team could continue shooting during the corona crisis.

Coronation Street turns 60 this year and is the longest-running soap opera in the world. More than 10,000 episodes have now been broadcast. In it, 146 characters died and 131 marriages were made. The soap is broadcast in 105 countries.

It wasn’t the Queen’s first time walking on Weatherfield’s cobblestones. She also visited the set once in May 1982.
