At the reception, she met Joe Biden for the first time since taking office as president of the United States

Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II is hosting an official reception in honor of G7 leaders. The Cornwall Botanical Garden was chosen as the venue.

It also houses the world’s largest covered rainforest, called the Garden of Eden Project, Reuters reported.

The 95-year-old queen arrived for the reception accompanied by her most senior relatives, incl. Crown Prince Charles, his wife Camilla, Prince William and his wife Kate.

This is the first major event for the Queen since the death of her husband, Prince Philip.

At the reception, Elizabeth II met Joe Biden for the first time since taking office as President of the United States.

During her 69-year rule, the Queen has previously met with 12 US presidents, and Biden is 13th in the statistics.

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson and his wife were also present.

Prior to the reception, the G-7 summit opened in a nearby resort and the topic of conversation was pandemic recovery and multilateralism.
