Qualcomm has announced the Snapdragon X70 5G modem. With 10 Gbit/s, it offers the same maximum download speed as its predecessor from last year. The maximum upload speed of the modem is 3.5 Gbit/s.
From Snapdragon X70 provides support for 4x carrier aggregation what time-division duplexing on frequency division duplexing Re. Tdd is a technique for transmitting and receiving signals on the same frequency. Fdd is a technique that does this at different frequencies.
Qualcomm makes the X70 just like the Snapdragon X65 from last year on a 4nm production process. The download speed is still at a maximum of 10 Gbit/s. The manufacturer reports a maximum upload speed of 3.5Gbit/s. Qualcomm never disclosed the upload speed of the X65. that of the X60 from the year before was at a claimed 3Gbit/s.
The manufacturer reports that it has added a processor for artificial intelligence calculations to the X70’s radio frequency system. That chip is said to help increase speeds, lower latency and improve power efficiency.
In the second quarter of this year, Qualcomm will deliver the first samples to customers, so that the first products with the Snapdragon X70 can be released by the end of this year. Among other things Apple is going to use the X70 for upcoming iPhones, documents made public through a settlement between Apple and Qualcomm.
