In 2020, QuakeCon was held purely digitally for the first time in connection with the corona pandemic. This year the digital fair will take place from 18 to 20 August.
In a tweet, Bethesda said: “Like you, we are disappointed that we are not returning to Dallas this year. An event of this magnitude takes months of planning. We had to make choices when too much was still unclear and why not a physical Organize QuakeCon.” QuakeCon must be held physically again in 2023.
QuakeCon celebrates id Software and owner Bethesda franchises. Upcoming games from the company are often shown there and new games announced. A remaster of Quake was suddenly released last year. Bethesda and therefore id Software are now part of Microsoft.
