In Taiwan, 100-year-old female writer and scholar Qi Bangyuan passed away.

During her lifetime, Qi Bangyuan published academic works, translation works, literary reviews, prose essays, etc. At the age of 86, she completed the 250,000-word memoir “The Great River”. She wrote from Northeast China to Taiwan, recording the changes of the times with her personal experience. There are a large number of readers on both sides of the Taiwan Strait.

Qi Bangyuan was born in Liaoning in February 1924. Shortly after graduating in 1947, she was employed as a teaching assistant in the Department of Foreign Languages ​​and Literatures of National Taiwan University. In 1968, she went to the United States for further study. In 1969, she served as the director of the Foreign Languages ​​Department of National Chung Hsing University in Taiwan. In 1988, he retired from National Taiwan University.
