Putin says ‘nothing will be like before’ in combative speech

June 17 – President Vladimir Putin delivered a combative speech at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum on Friday, saying that the Russian economy had resisted Western sanctions imposed after Moscow’s intervention in Ukraine.

Putin accused the United States of treating other countries as “colonies” and said grim forecasts for the Russian economy had not come to pass.

Amid a lengthy denunciation of the United States and its allies, Putin said: “Nothing will be the same as before in world politics.”
