The Kremlin has changed its position on the war.

This opinion was expressed by a Russian publicist and sociologist Andrey Piontkovsky in a conversation with Russian human rights activist and blogger Mark Feigin. He recalled Putin’s recent statement about the war at a meeting of the Russian Council for the Development of Civil Society and Human Rights.
”He already justified the defeat in the war, calling it a victory. According to him, Putin is already “solemnly selling” defeat to the Russians.
“All his movements in recent months are understandable – he desperately wants to freeze the situation, he is ready to leave. As Piontkovsky pointed out, Putin no longer has “Napoleonic plans” – “he moved on to the sales line of his hits“.
Recall that on December 7, Russian President Vladimir Putin said so the war in Ukraine could drag on for a long time. The President of the Russian Federation stressed that “the emergence of the results of the special operation can be a long process.” At the same time, Putin called the results of the war “the emergence of new regions in the Russian Federation and the transformation of the Azov Sea into an internal one.”
After these statements, analysts from the American Institute for the Study of War (ISW) concluded that Putin is keeping the Russians waiting long and exhausting war in Ukraine, which still aims to conquer additional territories.
ISW believes it The Kremlin’s goals remain unchanged than those set after Russia’s withdrawal from Kiev.
