Putin Misled His Own Adviser Who Was Too Afraid To Reveal How Bad The War In Ukraine

WASHINGTON DC, KOMPAS.com – President Russia Vladimir Putin misled by advisers who were too afraid to tell him how bad the war was Ukraine and how destructive Western sanctions are.

This was conveyed by a number of sources from the White House and Europe, as reported by ReutersWednesday (30/3/2022).

Russia launched its invasion of Ukraine since February 24 and has not stopped until now. However, the attack was apparently met with stiff resistance from Ukraine.

Ukrainian forces have even recaptured some of the territory previously occupied by Russian troops, even as many civilians remain trapped in besieged cities.

“We have information that Putin feels misled by the Russian military, which has resulted in ongoing tensions between Putin and his military leadership,” White House communications director Kate Bedingfield told reporters at a news conference.

“We believe that Putin was misled by his advisers about how badly the Russian military is performing and how the Russian economy is being crippled by sanctions because his senior advisers are too afraid to tell the truth,” Bedingfield added.

Bedingfield said Washington deliberately exposed the intelligence to show Russia’s strategic blunder.

The Kremlin did not immediately comment on the statement when contacted Reuters. The Russian embassy in Washington also did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Washington’s decision to share its intelligence more openly reflects an “Uncle Sam’s Country” strategy that had been in place since before the war began.

A second US official added that the exposure of intelligence from the US could also complicate Putin’s calculations.
