Pušpure rowed 2000 meters in the final in seven minutes and 36.04 seconds, beating the closest follower Magdalen Lobnig from Austria by 2.42 seconds.
The bronze was won by the Greek Aneta Kirida, who lost 3.93 seconds to Pušpure.
The Irish rower is now a two-time world and European champion. Before that, Pušpure had two bronze medals at the European Championships.
Also in 2003, Pušpure, still representing Latvia, won the bronze medal in the U-23 age group in Amsterdam.
