Puerto A Coruña: Inés Rey sees the approval of European funds as the definitive boost to the train to Langosteira | Radio Coruña

The European Commission has approved the Recovery and Resilience Plan of the Government of Spain. This approval by the community body will allow the executive of Pedro Sánchez to have the first 9,000 million euros. Good news also for A Coruña, has pointed out the mayor of A Coruña, Inés Rey, since the tender for the train to Langosteira had been linked to obtaining these funds.

Inés Rey has confirmed that there are no changes in this regard. July was the month set by the Ministry of Transport for the tender for the railway work to the outer port of A Coruña, although the Port Authority anticipates that it will not be until after the summer. The mayor sees in the repceción of the European funds the definitive impulse to the project.

The Minister of Infrastructure, Jose Luis Ábalos, has been visiting Santiago de Compostela this morning, but it has not been possible to ask him about this matter.

Elecnor will build a green hydrogen plant in the outer port of A Coruña

Elecnor, through its subsidiary Enerfin, has presented to the Port Authority of A Coruña a request for an administrative concession to build and operate a green hydrogen production plant in the outer port of A Coruña, in Langosteira Point, called ‘Green H2 Langosteira’, reported the company.

Specifically, the plant, which is expected to be operational by the end of 2023, will produce hydrogen by electrolysis from water molecules and electricity of renewable origin generated ‘in-situ’, and will have a refueling station for hydrogen vehicles.

The company highlighted that the hydrogen produced will have various applications, such as the transport of heavy vehicles and port machinery with fuel cells, or industrial processes, “achieving in all of them a significant reduction in the emission of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere.”

This project is part of the ‘A Coruña Green Port’ initiative, promoted by the Port Authority of A Coruña, aspiring to become a decarbonization hub and a reference point for the supply of green H2 in the region.

Enerfin presented the project last December to the Expression of Interest (MoI) launched by the Ministry of Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge to collect hydrogen projects.
