Pucallpa: EsSalud intensifies campaign to prevent dengue fever and vaccinate against COVID-19 in the native community of San Francisco | Ucayali | Coronavirus | LIME

Given the declaration of a health emergency in the Ucayali region due to the increase in dengue cases, isHealth came to the native community of San Francisco to provide guidance and recommendations on the prevention of this disease that, so far this year, has claimed the lives of five people in the city of Pucallpa alone.

A team of doctors, nurses, nutritionist and care staff embarked on a boat through the Yarinacocha lagoon to arrive, in a 40-minute trip, to the native community of San Franciscowhere a large part of the population is made up of children, the most prone to dengue transmission.

In the place, the doctors gave an educational talk to recognize the symptoms of dengue, which are fever, joint pain, abdominal pain, eye pain, rash and even vomiting. In addition, they were given recommendations to avoid contagion, such as having fully covered water containers, the use of mosquito nets, repellents, correctly disposing of garbage, among others.

There is a growing number of possible cases of dengue. At the EsSalud level we have more than 400 confirmed cases and the death of a child under 11 years of age in January”, said Dr. César Aston, director of the Ucayali Assistance Network of EsSalud.

Since December of last year, The Ucayali Assistance Network has implemented the Dengue Unit at Hospital II of EsSalud Pucallpa for timely care, 24 hours a day, in the case of confirmed cases of this virus. It is made up of specialized personnel to attend to the symptoms and complications of affected patients; It has 15 beds and, if there is greater demand, more will be enabled.

The fever clinic has also been implemented in the Emergency area of ​​the hospital to quickly identify this disease.

Dr. César Aston mentioned that The average number of hospitalizations, to date, is 10 patients and an average of 30 to 40 people attend an emergency daily of different age groups, with all the symptoms.

Given the increase in cases, we are carrying out fumigation campaigns for three consecutive Sundays, in addition to the collection of useless and abatement”, specified the specialist.
