PSSI Officially Protests to AFF! Accusing Vietnam Vs Thailand Not Fair Play

Jakarta

PSSI ensured to send a letter of protest to the AFF regarding the match Vietnam vs Thailand who is accused of not playing fair in AFF U-19 Cup 2022. The letter was sent today.

This was conveyed by the General Chairperson of PSSI, Mochamad Irawan, who said that the decision was taken after holding a three-hour meeting on Monday (11/7/2022).

“What we want to submit to the AFF, our protest is related to fair play what happened was the game between Vietnam and Thailand that we saw in the last 10 minutes,” said Iriawan at a press conference at Plaza Mandiri, Jakarta.

“Especially and indeed it was suspected that the ball was just circling in the middle which was very visible in the 84th minute, it was just spinning and passing around the 16th line. We want to make sure to ask the AFF or protest whether it is fair play or not? Because this is a reference for us, if it is said fair play we can do that at some point because it’s beyond our expectations,” he said.

According to Iwan Bule, as Mochamad Iriawan is called, the condition of a 1-1 scoreline is highly unlikely, especially since the two big teams are competing. With this result, Indonesia failed to qualify for the semifinals of the 2022 AFF U-19 Cup despite a big win over Myanmar with a score of 5-1.

Vietnam, Thailand and Indonesia both collected 11 points in Group A of the 2022 AFF U-19 Cup. Indonesia lost head to head and had to settle for third place.

“Before the match started, I discussed with Shin Tae-yong in the team meeting room. I made a scenario if this happened 1-1 what would happen? Shin Tae-yong is absolutely sure that Vietnam and Thailand did this.”

“We’re not accusing them of doing anything, playing with soap or anything, but what we clearly saw was that yesterday’s match was at times inappropriate for two big countries with two good players,” said Iwan Bule.

For that, his party will protest to the AFF today. Iriawan himself said the letter was still being prepared by his team and would request an answer from the AFF as soon as possible, with copies sent to the AFC and FIFA.

“The letter is being drafted by the legal team and the secretary general is expected today (to be sent), at the latest tomorrow we will send it to the AFF and certainly a copy will be sent to the AFC and FIFA. Because FIFA knows about it and the AFC, we also send the recorded evidence to the AFC and FIFA. We we will hand over all 2×45 minutes and the last 10 minutes that we feel are not right,” said Iriawan.

“Please AFF send an investigation team here. That’s fine, but what is clear is that we had a meeting for 3 hours with all PSSI equipment and we played a video recording of Vietnam vs Thailand, indeed in the first half it was 0-0 and the second half was only 4 minutes apart Vietnam can reply half,” said Iriawan.

“In fact, earlier, Shin Tae-yong said that on behalf of coach Nova, there was a Vietnamese player, who fell assisted by Thailand and it was natural that it was a form of fair play, that’s where Shin Tae-yong conveyed why the match didn’t go fair play,” he added.
