Spokesperson for the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) Sigit Widodo conveyed a clarification and apology regarding him claiming to be charged Rp. 150,000 at a restaurant in the Km 86 rest area of the Cikopo-Palimanan (Cipali) Toll Road
He uploaded this clarification and apology via a tweet on his personal Twitter social media account @sigitwid on Tuesday (25/4).
“For those who are not pleased with my tweets, please allow me to apologize, as well as to all Indonesian netizens who may be tired of the controversy over my tweets,” Sigit wrote on his Twitter account.
Apart from that, he also clarified the matter of the number of servings when eating at the restaurant which had caused controversy.
“Regarding my first tweet which said that I ate two servings of chicken rice and packaged tea, it might be interpreted that this is only one rice and one chicken. Meanwhile, in my understanding, one portion means rice plus other side dishes. This is what I later detailed in interviews with the media,” Sigit said through his tweet.
Sigit also said that the restaurant that had beaten him at an unreasonable price had apologized and offered to provide compensation for the incident. However, he refused because he wanted to meet the owner of the restaurant first.
“The owner of RM Hadea has stated that there was an error because the price that should have been IDR 116,000 was increased by his employees to IDR 155,000. He has apologized and is willing to provide a refund. I really appreciate and respect his attitude. Until now I have not provided an account number for a refund because I want meet him first for hospitality,” explained Sigit through his tweet.
Nevertheless, he appreciated the steps taken by the relevant parties to impose sanctions, Sigit hoped that these sanctions would not close the restaurant where he had stopped.
“I appreciate the toll road management for taking quick and decisive action, but it would be nice if the sanctions were only in the form of a written warning and warning, not in the form of a temporary closure because the owner has also admitted his mistake,” Sigit tweeted.
However, Sigit assesses that what the restaurant employees have done cannot be justified because it will affect public trust in MSMEs.
