Leo Messi was missing from the squad for the match against Strasbourg in the 16th round of Ligue 1, still at rest after his World Cup triumph, but other stars appeared on the pitch, with Kylian Mbappe and Neymar at the helm. This match was for PSG easy and pleasant, because their rival occupied a place in the relegation zone.

The meeting actually started well for the Parisians. Already in the 14th minute Marquinhos took the lead, who took advantage of a perfect cross from Neymar free kick. The score was 1-0 until halftime.

After switching sides, Marquinhos was back on the scoresheet. This time, however, he scored his own goal. He accidentally cut a cross in the penalty area and completely deceived Gianluigi Donnarumma. As it soon turned out, this was only the beginning of PSG’s problems in this match.
Neymar saw a yellow card for a foul in the 61st minute. Nothing special, but the star just two minutes later proved once again in his career that he tends to behave irresponsibly. He saw a second yellow card, and consequently a red one. This time for trying to force a penalty. The referee was not fooled and severely punished the player.
Neymar severely weakened PSG, who for the next 30 minutes had to fight an unequal fight with a determined Strasbourg team. Christophe Galtier’s team obviously dominated and tried to attack. However, the lack of one player was very noticeable. It wasn’t until extra time that PSG managed to score the winner throat. Kylian Mbappe was fouled in the penalty area. After a while, the Frenchman placed the ball on the eleventh meter and confidently defeated the goalkeeper of his rivals, setting the score at 2: 1.
PSG consolidated their lead in Ligue 1 with 44 points. Strasbourg, on the other hand, still occupies the nineteenth, penultimate place in the standings table with 11 points. Loses three points to the upkeep deposit.
