Proud princess Alena Vránová did not live like in a fairy tale. The man and her regime took their revenge on her

Alena Vránová, who celebrated her 90th birthday this year, was one of the most beautiful Czech actresses. She was especially remembered nationwide for her role as Princess Krasomila in the popular fairy tale The Proud Princess. But not everyone knows that her personal life was not so rosy.

In the legendary fairy tale The Proud Princess he recognized Princess Krasomila’s representative Alena Vranonova my great love. The ending was happy on screen, but unfortunately not in real life. In addition to her unfulfilled love, the actress has also been accompanied by other very painful events in her life.

See how Jakub Prachař played the Proud Princess in the show We love the Czechia:

Vránová filmed the famous fairy tale when she was only 20, already as a married woman. Her husband was the writer and playwright Pavel Kohout (94), who was four years her senior. However, at the time of filming, she had to leave for some time and go abroad for work. Meanwhile, she Alena fell in love on the set with the married actor Vladimír Ráž († 77), who played Prince Miroslav in the fairy tale.

A fairytale scandal that had no parallel

After that, when their romance collapsed, a scandal erupted, which was unprecedented at the time. The actress’s husband did not let himself go unnoticed and took revenge in a rather unusual way. Divorce wasn’t as much of a problem for him as it was for Vránová, since her neck was literally in danger during political trials, so he didn’t delay the punishment too long.

A disgraced Pavel Kohout wrote a play The Good Song about a woman’s betrayal. At that time, it was performed in theaters all over the country and Alena Vránová was labeled a subversive of the regime. “The filmmakers started to get scared, slowly I couldn’t even go out on the street,” Alena Vránová complained in one of the interviews. That’s right, she got a role in the regional theater.

The scandal gradually subsided. Vladimír Ráž and Alena Vránová got married, but their marriage did not last however. While Vladimir got married again and had another child, she Alena was forever alone, although she did not lack suitors. For example, the actor and his longtime partner theater colleague Petr Kostka (84) admitted that he was once madly in love with her. “I’ve known Alenka for a lifetime. We played mistress roles together in the municipal theaters of Prague. I peeked at her, but she kept me away. We were both engaged,” she confided herec in the documentary The Role of My Life.

The only daughter got drunk to death

From the marriage of Vránová and Ráža was born an only daughter, Markéta. She lived with her famous parents until she came of age and she appeared to be a very talented woman. She became a Doctor of Philosophy and she also spoke four world languages. She earns her living as an interpreter, after the 1989 revolution she sets up a travel agency and travels the whole world.

In her professional life, Marketa has been very successful, but unfortunately she has not been so lucky in her personal life. She divorced her first husband, with whom she had a daughter, Tereza, because he fell into drugs. Her second marriage to a Belgian also ended in failure. Marketa began to solve her problems by drinking, which eventually became fatal. Over the years, due to alcohol addiction, she has lost not only her business, but also the roof over her head and ended up under a bridge. Alcohol destroyed her liver, kidneys and more had a stroke.

Although Alena Vránová repeatedly wanted to help her daughter, it was all in vain. She paid for her medical care, she even offered her a kidney on the condition that she go through withdrawal. However, the actress’s only son hasn’t stopped drinking and has refused any help. His life ended on Christmas dayat only 55 years old.
