Proud of my 37 – 100% Education, the citizenship and solidarity project of the Lycée Grandmont de Tours

This morning, I am going to talk to you about Solidarity Week as part of 100% education – the citizenship and solidarity project of the Lycée Grandmont in Tours.
For 6 years, in order to germinate a small seed in the minds of the students of 1st STMG in social and solidarity economy, the school had the idea of organizing an event which is integrated into the school program. This Solidarity Week is divided into 4 days, 4 classes, 4 different collections. (Excerpt) This program, called 100% education, aims to raise awareness among high school students, their parents and their friends: sharing, volunteering, commitment and civic solidarity. He even hires elected officials like Ms. Teixeira and Mr. Moulay who support the initiative.

And concretely, how does it work?

Beforehand, the students complete a one-week immersion course within the large solidarity associations of the Tourangelle agglomeration, to observe and study the functioning of these structures, as well as the tasks performed by the volunteers. This is followed by school work on communication, organization and promotion of the event, which will enable them to get involved in turn within the confines of their establishment. Finally, they offer collections over a week in the Lycée Grandmont. They are not open to the public, only to high school students and their parents. The goal: to reap the benefits of the associations that hosted them for the internship. You will understand, Monday was food collection day for the Restos du Coeur, Tuesday was the toy collection day for Emmaüs, today Wednesday is the day for collecting clothes for the benefit of the Active association and tomorrow Thursday, it will be a collection of telephone equipment and household appliances for the benefit of the Ressourcerie de La Riche La Charpentière. I also specify that if parents of students or even students listen to us, they can also always bring food or toys to expand previous collections. Each day starts at 8 a.m. and ends at 6 p.m.

And are the students motivated?

It’s better that they are, there are good grades at stake, preparation for the big oral examination of the BAC, skills to be acquired which will be very useful to them for their higher education and their future professional life… And then, for the most talented, there are tickets to be won in the poster creation and communication competitions to attract their friends to fundraising! In any case, on France Bleu Touraine we salute this approach which encourages the collective spirit among young people.
