Protests in the region for the return to Phase 1: Caravan in Cipolletti

The repudiation of the return to Phase 1 of isolation in the Department of General Roca did not wait in Cipoletti. A couple hours after the announcement by Governor Arabela Carreras, a hundred Cipoleños citizens convened in the city center to make a caravan against the new provision.

More than a hundred people went to the house of mayor Cluadio Di Tella to make visible their dissatisfaction with the resolution of the provincial government. The measure affects a large number of commercial activities that must close their doors from Tuesday.

In addition, all sports and recreational activities that had been made more flexible will be prohibited, at least until September 7. The mayor regretted the new restriction but assured that it is a measure that seeks to prevent the increase in coronavirus cases and the collapse of the health system.

Tomorrow, Di Tella will announce the scope of the measure in Cipolletti. You can ask for exceptions but the final decision will be in the hands of the provincial government.

Around 10 pm, several residents gathered in the center of the city to start the caravan. With honks and shouts they repudiated the decision of the provincial government.

One of the spokesmen for the demonstration was the president of the Chamber of Commerce, José Luis, Bunter, who assured that the merchants will not close their doors.

“We do not share the governor’s decision to return to Phase 1. It is not shared by any of the Cipolletiti chambers with whom I am in permanent communication.
