– Garden furniture: from the end of August you can take advantage of great discounts on garden furniture. “Outlets sometimes already give up to 80 percent discount,” says Devisch. “Be sure to check out Exterioo, Brico or Van Cranenbroek. At Fun, there is often a stock sale on garden sets and garden decoration at the beginning of August, with discounts of up to 60 percent.”

– cat food: August 8 is International Cat Day and around that time, discounts are often given on cat food, both at supermarket chains and online (think of the Collect&Go Deals, for example). These are brands such as Purina, Sheba and Catisfactions. “Last year, Carrefour had a Purina Gourmet promotion: 2 + 2 free,” says Devisch. “It was very popular.”

– Outlet Roermond: in August you can get up to 50 percent extra discount on top brands in the outlet center in Roermond in the Netherlands – half an hour’s drive from Maastricht – on top of the already low prices.

– Magnum: in mid-August you can enjoy a 1+1 free promotion on Magnum ice creams at some supermarkets. These include Albert Heijn, Delhaize and Colruyt. “This one comes back every year,” says Devisch.

– Coke: after the big promotion in May, a second one will follow in August, where you get up to 50 percent discount on bottles of Coca-Cola. The promotion is running in several supermarkets.

– Jupiler: you can also take advantage of Jupiler in August, with a promotion where you get a 50 percent discount on the second container you purchase.

– Efteling: for those who like amusement parks: in August it is often cheaper to visit the Efteling. “There are usually discounts of up to 30 percent. Keep a close eye on the Efteling site,” says Devisch.

– school supplies: children have to go back to school on September 1, which is why many shops offer Back To School discounts. “For example, at Dreamland you can exchange an old book bag for a voucher of 10 euros and at Lidl there are stack discounts,” says Devisch.
