Profile of 7 SOEs to be Disbanded Erick Thohir

Jakarta, CNN Indonesia

Minister BUMN Erick Thohir stated that 7 state-owned companies would be dissolved. The reason is that the state company has not operated for a long time even though it still has workers.

“Now what needs to be closed is seven (BUMN) that have not operated for a long time. Zalim if he becomes a leader does not provide certainty,” Erick said to the media, Thursday (23/9).

However, Erick has not provided a detailed explanation regarding the time for the dissolution of the seven SOEs. The following is the profile of the companies that will be disbanded.

1. PT Merpati Nusantara Airlines (Persero)

Quoted from various sources, this national airline was founded on September 6, 1962. Headquartered in Surabaya, Merpati has 39 fleets with 84 domestic destinations.

Merpati once had a red record in aviation, such as the fall of an MA-60 aircraft at Haji Asan Sampit Airport in 2012, an accident at El Tari Kupang Airport in 2013, until the fall of Xian MA60X into the sea on May 7, 2011.

PT Perusahaan Pengelola Asset (PPA) had provided restructuring funds of up to Rp663.99 billion.

Since then, Merpati had stopped operating in 2014 and was reported to be back on the air in 2019. Until finally, the company will be dissolved by the government.

2. PT Industri Glass (Persero) or Iglas

This state company was founded on October 29, 1956 and is engaged in the manufacture of glass packaging.

PPA has disbursed bailout funds of Rp49.96 billion and restructuring loans of Rp89.08 billion.

Before being disbanded, the Glass Industry (Iglas) had settled the rights of its former employees by paying 429 of its former employees, Monday (13/9). This is part of PPA’s restructuring steps towards Iglas.

3. PT Istaka Karya (Persero)

The company is engaged in consortium construction and was founded in 1979. Previously, Istaka was named the Indonesian Consortium of Construction Industries (PT ICCI).

A number of achievements have built a number of infrastructures such as hospitals, causeways, office buildings, flyover, to the dam.

Ironically, this company actually experienced problems and did not pay employees salaries for more than a year. Until the PPA provided a bailout amounting to Rp62.44 billion, but there was no clarity.

4. PT Kertas Kraft Aceh (Persero) or KKA

The company, which was founded in 1983, focuses on the production of cement bag paper. The government even relies on KKA to create self-sufficiency in domestic paper bags.

In fact, President Joko Widodo has worked for this company long before he became a state official.

Unfortunately, KKA had to be ‘treated’ by PPA by providing bailout funds of Rp 51.34 billion and restructuring loans of Rp. 141.61 billion. However, until now there has been no further improvement.

5. PT Industri Sandang Nusantara (Persero) or ISN

ISN was founded in 1961 with the aim of meeting the needs of clothing in Indonesia. The company focuses on the national yarn spinning and weaving production from yarn to garment.

However, this company actually became a ‘patient’ of PPA by receiving an injection of funds of Rp. 26 billion for business continuity assistance.

6. PT Financing Armada Niaga Nasional (Persero) or PANN

The company was founded in 1974 as a vehicle for organizing a national merchant vessel investment program. However, PANN has also been in the hotel business so, according to Erick, it does not focus on its business sector.

Erick once revealed facts related to facts that shocked the public because PANN was said to have only seven employees, from directors to commissioners.

7. PT Paper Leces (Persero)

This factory is located in Leces, Probolinggo and is engaged in paper production. Founded in 1939, this factory is the second oldest in Indonesia after Kertas Padalarang.

By 1940 Leces was able to produce 10 tons of paper per day and produce paper print processing straw raw materials.

This company had received an injection of bailout funds from PPA worth Rp38.5 billion. Until now, there is no clarity on the process of restructuring the BUMN.
