More than a year and a half after the start of the health crisis, Professor Didier Raoult will have to be accountable. The Marseille infectious disease specialist is summoned by the disciplinary chamber of the regional council of the Order of Physicians of New Aquitaine. The hearing, relocated from the Bouches-du-Rhône department, will be held Friday, November 5 at the administrative court of appeal of Bordeaux. It should make it possible to examine complaints lodged against Didier Raoult, in particular by the departmental council of the Ordre des médecins des Bouches-du-Rhône.
In the fall of 2020, the departmental council of the Ordre des médecins des Bouches-du-Rhône had complained against Professor Raoult, director of the IHU in Marseille. He reproached him in particular for having violates the code of ethics of the profession, after his position in favor of hydroxychloroquine to fight against Covid-19. The National Council of the Order of Physicians joined this complaint at the end of December. Didier Raoult in turn lodged a complaint against the president of this council for “harassment”.
Didier Raoult will not come to Bordeaux
The Marseille infectious disease specialist has already warned, through his lawyer, that he will not go to the hearing. A “brief” was sent to the disciplinary chamber to explain its position on these charges. The chamber may decide on sanctions ranging from a simple warning to a delisting. Since last week, Professor Raoult has already been accused of having conducted possibly illegal clinical trials at the IHU, which he disputes.
