In the middle of the outgoing month, Ford Motor Company resumed production of the F-150 Lightning electric pickups after an almost month-long break due to the need to localize defects in a batch of traction batteries. After the resumption of production of cars, as the American customers of the company can feel for themselves, their cost has once again increased.

This week, according to Electrek, production volumes of F-150 Lightning pickups at the plant in Michigan returned to the previous level. New buyers were able to pre-order, but at higher prices than before the suspension of production in February. The most basic pickup kits are now being sent to commercial customers, who will have to pay $59,974 instead of the previous $55,974, but the more expensive F-150 Lightning trims for private customers have risen in price more modestly.

For example, the Lariat Standard Range package is now valued at $75,974, which is $1,500 more than at the beginning of February. The top-of-the-line Platinum has added $1,200 and is now available for $98,074. Ford said the price increase was due to higher material costs, ongoing component availability issues, and “market factors.” By this fall, Ford expects to bring its Michigan facility to the equivalent capacity of 150,000 electric vehicles per year. Until the end of this spring, private customers will be able to order the cheapest F-150 Lightning pickup trucks.
