Producer Santhosh T Kuruvila Opens Up About the Significant Losses in Films Naradan and Neerali

Producer Santhosh T Kuruvila said that he lost around five crore rupees in the film Naradan. Naradan is a film directed by Ashiq Abu starring Tovino Thomas. Producer Santhosh T Kuruvila says that the film was not sold on satellite as it appeared as a film against TV channels. In an interview given to Q Studio, Santhosh T Kuruvila said that doubling the previously fixed budget of the film is a big burden for the producers who do not have other jobs, and there are producers in our industry who are in trouble and have to give their own house to pay off the debt.

Mohanlal’s movie Neerali is a movie that I lost. A Tamilnadu man sold the retus of Neerali’s out seed. He gave me an advance of fifty lakh rupees at a price of one and a half crore rupees. The full amount must be paid before the release of the movie. When the movie came out and was not as successful as expected, he could not pay the money, later many people called me and said that he had given the money on interest and now he is on the verge of suicide. Santosh T Kuruvila says that when the movies got good value in OTT during the covid period, many people called and offered to give me one crore rupees, one and a half crore, but he was giving the OTT rates of that film to the Tamil Nadu man for fifty lakh rupees.

I lost around five crore rupees in the film Naradan. The TV guys didn’t pick up that movie. Maybe that’s why it came across as a movie against TV channels. The film Nimir lost Rs 3 crore. For me I don’t see that loss as big because I don’t have a lot of pesas, I have pesas like that from movies. Santhosh T Kuruvila explains that it is because he is interested in making good films, experimental films and making changes in the industry.
