A number of problems caused defeat Indonesian National Volleyball Team from South Korea in the race for seventh place in the 2023 Asian Games, Tuesday (26/9).
The Indonesian National Volleyball Team ended its struggle at the 2023 Asian Games with a narrow 2-3 defeat to South Korea at China Textile City Sports Center Gymnasium, Hangzhou.
The team coached by Jeff Jiang Jie put up fierce resistance to South Korea. Having led 17-14 in the first set, Indonesia had to trail 27-29.
In the second set Indonesia came back with a 25-19 lead. Korea took the lead again in the third set with 25-19. However, Indonesia was able to equalize the score at 2-2 after winning 25-21 while forcing a full set match.
However, in the deciding set the Red and White Team could not provide as fierce resistance as in the next set. Indonesia lost 8-15.
Assistant coach for the Indonesian National Volleyball Team, Erwin Rusni, revealed a number of factors that caused Hernanda Zulfi and his friends to fail to win against Korea.
1. Difficulty Overcoming Your Opponent’s Posture
Korea, which is supported by a tall posture, has more ease in carrying out attacks or spikes. This was proven by 70 successful Korean attacks from 124 attempts. Meanwhile, Indonesia only had 61 successes out of 131 attempts.
2. Out of power
Playing a match in five sets made the Indonesian players tired. The Indonesian players had used up a lot of energy in the previous match, when they won 3-2 over Kazakhstan.
3. Less Calm
Erwin also raised the issue of Fahreza Rakha cs’ lack of calm when sharing the ball and attacking so that the opponent could read it.
