Since the announcement of the Mac Studio and the M1 Ultra chip, several commentators have been annoyed by the complexity of the ranges at Apple. Are they right to blame him for these changes?
Apple held its first event of 2022, Tuesday, March 8. The brand unveiled MacStudioits first new computer since the MacBook Air of 2008. The device exists in two configurations, one with the already known M1 Max chip, another with the M1 Ultra chip, created especially for the occasion.
If these new products are rather well received by the press and fans of the brand, we have been hearing the same nursery rhyme for several days. Some blame Apple to name its products oddly, at the risk of misleading its users. Is this really the case? In our opinion, this controversy does not make much sense.
Pro or Studio, did Apple have a choice?
On The Verge for example, we wonder about the meaning of the suffix “Pro” at Apple. Long reserved for truly professional solutions (Mac Pro, Final Cut Pro, Logic Pro, etc.), it now accompanies many consumer products, often to distinguish them from less expensive versions (iPhone 13 Pro, iPad Pro, AirPods Pro, etc.). The Verge wonders if the “Studio” brand, launched with the new Mac Studio, is not there to help Apple distinguish the fake pro from the real pro.
