Prison sends intern away for relationship with ex-prisoner | Inland

Shortly after the detainee was released, someone tipped off the management about the relationship between the two. “On June 8, it was established that an intern from the PI Sittard has non-professional contact with an ex-prisoner. Access was immediately denied and her internship for a certain period of time was immediately terminated,” said the spokeswoman.

The prisoner was still incarcerated when the intern worked there. But according to the spokeswoman, it has not been shown that the two were already in a relationship at that time. “The intern always worked under the supervision of an employee, so also in contact with detainees,” she said. “It is important that the relationship between employee and detainee in a penitentiary remains strictly professional. Such a non-professional relationship can harm the safety of detainees and employees and is therefore unacceptable.”
