The local government announced today that the Ministry of the Interior has made a commitment with the City Council that Penitentiary Institutions will cede free and temporarily the uses of the provincial prison of La Torre. The local government announced it this morning, via Facebook. The proposed agreement will be taken to the governing board.
According to the public statement, the objective is to allocate the old prison to socio-community uses and cultural activities. The councilor for Urban Regeneration has the double objective of rehabilitating the property and providing it with content.
The proposed agreement establishes that both the City Council and the State will finance the remodeling and conservation works, with an amount of up to 150,000 euros by each administration. The agreement is valid for two years, renewable annually.
